No Propeller found on any serial port, using Propeller Proto Board

Hi, years i use for simple testing a Propeller Proto Board.
Suddenly, from one day to the next, i had a problem finding the propeller (p1).

The power on the board is ok, 5volt and 3,3volt. Nothing has changed!
The Prop plug works good on other systems! Is the Propeller dead?, are there components to check?

  • One simple test, assuming you are not using Propeller Tool, is... to try Propeller Tool to find the P1 (using the F7 - identify hardware feature).

Reason being... most Propeller software relies on the PLL and external XTAL, whereas Propeller Tool doesn't. So you can discover at least if your PLL has been damaged if Propeller Tool can find the chip, but SimpleIDE (for example) can't.

  • All other basic tests apply too... as you seem to describe an intermittent issue? So ensure cables are sound, connectors are not worn, replace USB cable, ensure you've not got some code on the P1 "confusing" your UART, ensure you've not intermittently got other serial port software grabbing the port, ensure your Propeller programming tool has not excluded the COM port for some reason.... etc.. etc.. etc...

Had a similar issue recently, tried with three different Activity Boards, suddenly no connection whatsoever. Was afraid the laptop USB-port was toast, but a reboot helped. Worth a try.

  • I use the Propeller Tool, 2.9.3

  • if i use the same port on an orther board, there are no problems. It seems it is related to the board

    Hello!
How are you powering this board?
    And the mascot slept.
