Interesting, though 512 kBytes is not huge vs P2's own HUB memory. For things like framebuffer applications a 166MHz+ >= 4MByte QSPI part could be real nice for a P2. Weren't there some rumours of some 200MHz 3V PSRAM parts a while back? I just can't remember where.

I almost remember something like that, too...

I do see there is a 200MHz 3V 512MBit (64Mx8) HyperRAM part available from ISSI. Though idk how chaining them into a 16 bit configuration would go. Might be ugly code.

All the early super fast SPI parts were 8-bit (OPI) in the same BGA package and pinout as HyperRAMs. The 8-pin 4-bit parts were lower frequency rated. Dunno if that has changed.

  • Oh, and it looks like there will be a dip version as well, nice.
