JDK 17 question.

I just got the spin tools IDE. I have a JDK setup that I use for development of other software. JAVA_HOME and JAVA_JRE is setup correctly and when at the command line java -versiona and javac -version show the 17.1+12-39 Open JDK. Every time I try to run the version that does not include JRE it tells me I need to install JDK 17. I obviously have it installed so I am wondering why this does this. The JRE version of the IDE works fine..
