Backfeeding the Edge development boards via 5V pin.

It appears that you "back feed" the 5V pin on the Edge development boards from an accessory board. For example, you have a high current 5V source available on an accessory board, would there be a down side to using it to power the Edge and everything attached to it?

Thoughts?

The large breadboard breakout (#64020) is a little different in power routing than the smaller breakouts (#64019 / #64029), so worth checking the schematics.

But generally, sure no problem. If your power supply is capable enough for your requirements, and the trace widths on the breakout board will support the current you want to use, then go right ahead! You won't do any harm. Make sure your ground is common, and also capable of carrying the same load as the positive hookup.

Also consider to tape off the DC jack connector to remind yourself :) -- Although I've been known to use the Parallax USB to DC Jack cable and power a R-Pi from that Barrel Jack when running things "in reverse".

The new 64029 makes this a bit more flexible, as you can disable the Barrel Jack with one of the shunt jumpers. 64019 is just hard wired from the DC Jack to socket to all the 5V headers.
