Hummer: It's a Crab Walk
Hummer is certainly adding a robotic feel to their 2022 EV but IMO it seems like tech for tech's sake. 4-wheel steering +/- 10 degrees to maneuver sideways a bit. Looks good on paper, in the lab and on flat ground but real offroading is pretty extreme: rock crawling and going up near vertical cliffs. I can almost hear the "real off-roaders" scoffing. Not to mention that all these steering actuators will wear and introduce new failure modes.

"Real" crab-walk would entail the front and rear steering to be set in opposite directions with the wheels turning in opposite directions. Of course, excessive tire wear would be an issue.
