Can the 32 KB EEPROM used for the P8X32A be increased to 128KB

Just going over the P8X32A Datasheet

"The Boot Loader looks for an external 32 KB EEPROM (24LC256) on pins P28 and P29.

If an EEPROM is detected, the entire 32 KB data image is loaded into the Propeller chip’s
Main RAM."

If the EEPROM was 128KB and the format and registers were 100% compatible with the 24LC256 would the bootloader still just read the required 32 KB data leaving 96KB for user storage.

Yes. The usual eeprom on most boards use 64KB 25C512.

  • Yep, 128K EEPROMs do work, though they technically are more like two 64K ones in a single chip, which has to be considered.
