How can I include source code text in my posts?

Hi,
sorry silly question.
I have got problems with this markdown stuff in this forum.
How can I include source code text in my posts, without having the forum software modify it?

Above the posting box, press the 3rd icon (backward P), then choose code. That adds the markdown for inline code.

For code blocks, type three backticks, hit enter, paste your code, three more backticks then enter again.

Does nearly work. Puts some weird colors in the code but better than before.
