Strange error in new Prop Tool when old one is installed

Seems the new Prop Tool doesn't uninstall old versions (like 1.something) and this appears to cause things to go off the rails... Posting this in case happens to someone else...
I just installed 2.5.3 today on a laptop (that had a very old P1 only version already installed).
Tried to run a very small program and got this error window:
Error: List too long.
Had no idea what this meant. Too many errors?
Anyway, when I went to uninstall it, noticed the old version installed too.
Uninstalled both and reinstalled 2.5.3 and now it works.
