Ken, an advantage for Parallax is that you are an example of having an active microcontroller being manufactured in the U.S. that is unaffected by Chinese foundries, tariffs, shipping challenges, and delays at ports/customs; all things contributing to the industry wide shortages we are experiencing now (ignoring COVID of course). Good selling point for the funding if/when it comes to fruition.
As for the comments on the IC shortages in general, latest data shows stability returning Q3 next year. It is hitting my world hard (contract manufacturing). Unfortunately, it will get worse before it gets better.

FWIW, I know there are industrial products which use P1 and P2 chips. My day job is programming Propeller chips for these sorts of devices.
