emission impossible

Hi

I just came across something I think is utterly fascinating- but it has nothing to do with Parallax or microprocessors- so moderators please delete if you think appropriate!(or inappriate).

I was watching a video about Formula-E motor racing. I have to say it doesn't do much for me- much prefer formula 1- anyway it turns out that in line with the 'eco friendly' message they are (trying) to promote, they charge their fancy batteries from a diesel engine generator!!
What a diesel??
Yes a diesel driven from a new fuel called 'Aquafuel'. Why Aquafuel?
Well it produces almost NO pollution. What's more its a waste product!
Too good to be true? How can this be?
Its over my head, but fortunately they produce a pdf document explaining everything and it makes very interesting reading.

  • Wow, an interesting article

Back in 2009 one of the early Tesla roadster owners here in AU drove his car from Darwin to Adelaide, about 2000 miles, and managed to hit a record of 313 miles off a single standard charge, which was really impressive at the time. Buy yes in order to accommodate the full 2000mi journey a truck carrying a diesel generator on the back was needed to charge the Tesla for each segment, as I recall.

Yes, reading the PDF, not only is the green credentials of glycerine as a fuel impressive, so is the method of production in a salt lake. So, the future isn't red weed but red algae. ;)
