From time to time I create a custom board for my needs.
Up to now I had an USB mini connector, to be used for voltage supply, and in some cases programming.
like this one: https://www.mouser.it/ProductDetail/798-UX60A-MB-5ST/
USB mini are phasing out, micro are widely used and USB-C is looking like the new standard.
Could you suggest some connectors to be used on a custom board, that is reasonably easy to solder?
Thanks in advance,
Massimo

There are vertical micro USB that are all thru-pins, like this

or there are full-4-stake ones like this

the smd pins come out the back, so longer pads there could allow hand reflow soldering.

The 'bonus' is you get a USB A socket for free
Personally, I hate the micro USB. Breathe on it wrong and it's wiped out.

For sure there is an agreement about usb mini, and I don't really like them too.
The micro connector is very easy to solder, reasonably sturdy and with a good retention. I'll have to check some of the usb-C suggestions.
Thanks again,
Massimo
