A curious idea for programming the Prop 1 family of devices

Hello!
One of the things I remember from the space race was the development of a programming language specifically for the hardware that would take us into space and for specific purposes of course. This is HAL/S. It was originally written for the Space Shuttle, see here, HAL/S -Wikipedia but prograby found itself being used for the appropriate purposes of space travel. The history behind it implies it is a dialect of XPL that in turn is related to PL/1. Oddly enough the book described in the attached article is one I remember reading.
Now given all of that, how hard would it be to create an object that would turn a Prop 1 device into something else running HAL/S? Why, I can just hear several of you ask, for the novelty of it.
