P2 Edge and P2 Edge Breadboard (AKA the "JonnyMac) - PCBs arrived at Parallax

Hey all,

Don't have a lot of time these days, but thought I'd better get these pictures posted for you.

  • Wow! I’m looking forward to grabbing a few of those!! Nice looking boards!

  • Very nice! Can't wait!
  • Those look fantastic!

I've got a couple robots waiting for P2 Edge boards.

I ran out of RAM on my Halloween Hex and I wasn't able to add all the features I wanted. The P2 should make quick work of the additional inverse kinematics algorithms I have planned for it.

I'm hoping I can solder a double row of 0.05" header pins to to the edge for a cheapskate connector. Besides being cheap, I'm hoping this sort of connector will make it easier to fit the P2 Edge in my robots which had previously been controlled with QuickStart boards.
  • Looks great!! I wonder what I could build with a few. :)
  • How about a label to cover the ES chip and call it something else?
  • Signature edition!

Those look nifty. Shows what can be done in more layers....

Next, they could see if P2 layout can shrink even more, to fit this existing alternative edge-board footprint :) ?
(needs to squash into 22x22mm, minus room for edge connector)

  • Being Sparkfun would be the primary beneficiary, perhaps they should create the P2 MicroMod. I'm sure Ken would given them a good deal on P2s for the project. :)

I have an idea for an injection-molded enclosure to turn the P2 Edge into a cartridge type module (as in old game consoles) that could be labeled. This would be a way for products to be updated by exchanging for a module with new firmware.
  • Looking great! Can't wait to get a set.
  • Atari 2600 Style p2 modules

Looks like Official P2 Racing merch!

  • What's the purpose of the hole above the P37 & GND on the P2?
  • Many I missed it but is there any schematics or data for these boards. I'll probably buy a set.
  • I knew I could find it there

I assume it is for a gnd turret.

Ohh, ouch. Yeah, best put that ahead of the P2 gang, else you'll be facing the wrath of the Pinky Blinders.

    10. Orientation Hole
The single unplated orientation hole could be used by a customer application to fix the module in-place or ensure correct orientation. See the PCB Dimensions section for the hole position and dimensions.
  • I missed that. Where's the document?
  • Inspired by the RPi Compute?
