So i have two props communicating with each other over two half duplex 2.4ghz tranceivers. im using simple ide to program and full duplex serial code. the transceivers im using dont support RSSI. but i was wondering if there was some other clever way to determine signal strength? maybe using elapsed time or somthing? just curious if anyone has tried anything like this. thanks

What transceivers are you using?

If your transceivers send what you key them with verbatim, and if they use on-off keying (OOK), try this:

Send a sequence of square waves at increasingly higher frequency. Measure the frequency on the receiver's data pin. At some point, it will cut out completely depending, I think, upon received signal strength.

The item looks to be more sophisticated than the simple OOK transceiver I envisioned, so what I suggested won't work.

Perhaps It's only one of those Happy-Sherlock days, perhaps not so.

There are several versions of that module though many of them (if not all) hide the SOC markings (sandpaper???). Seems to be a Beken BK2461, but there are more versions available (not sure yet).

T.B.D.: If its a Beken, there are chances it's another 80C51-IP, now with embodied RF.

Warning: Too many versions, though they can possibly share the same basic features (or not...).

yes that is the one i have, version 2.03 and above have the two external antenna holes. version 1 is not compatible with later versions but all later versions are compatible with each other. i have been using this for a while now and i works very well for my use.

Inserting multiple images is a known forum software bug that's been around for a few years.
