In a previous post I noted that these ubiquitous chinese buck, boost and buck-boost switch-mode converters are invariably adjusted by 10K pots;

The 10K pots can be easily hacked and converted to a digital pot, thereby allowing the switch-mode converter to be adjusted by a microprocessor.

Yeah, I have seen them replaced by usable pots to make a DIY lab bench PSU. That was one of the coolest DIY projects I've ever seen.
