So, I am making plans for a quadruped spider-bot. It would have four legs(3 dof), with a master prop. I would need a power supply which could supply 50mA to each prop and 500mA to each servo(Feedback 360 units). 1A if they are going to be stalling.

7.5vdc, 12A. Must fit the circuits on a 4in square pcb and the battery can only be a few lbs, as the servos are supporting the whole bot.
Help. Me. Please.

EDIT: fixed this to say one prop instead of five. Thanks PhiPi.

  • I'm not sure why you need five Props. I think one would be adequate.

  • You know, I planned on five for 4 DOF legs. Than when I dialed it down to 3 DOF I guess I forgot that one prop could take that.
  • You shouldn't need 12 Amps either. They don't ALL need to be on at the same time and even if they were they are only actually driving the motor 1/10th of the time in a worst case scenario. I would stagger them over the 20ms signal period so only a few were on at any given time.
  • What language do you plan to use?
  • @"Beau Schwabe" That makes sense, I guess I might only need 4 or 5A.

@tomcrawford I plan to use good old Spin.

I think I will send pulses to one leg every 5ms and just cycle the updates.
  • I just realized how much 12 Feedback 360 servos is going to cost. Oof.
  • lol yup. We've been wanting to teach with Hexapods but those servos add up fast!
