Need help !

Hello,
I will be getting a Parallax Propeller Professional board in a week.
Found it on Ebay with nothing else. I need information on what software
is available and needed for this board. I believe there was a CD in the past
but not sure. Is there a copy of the files still available? Also how to set it
up for programming would be very helpful.

Personally, I'd use the Propeller Tool and program in Spin.

There are also new options if you have a Mac and/or want to program in C.

As Rayman mentioned, you can use the Propeller tool to program in Spin under Windows or you can use the Propeller IDE under Windows, MacOS, or Linux to program in Spin or the Simple IDE to program using C or C++ or BlocklyProp to use a graphical web-based programming tool ... again all cross platform. The Propeller Professional Development Board (PPDB) is very nice and powerful but unlike most other Propeller boards nothing is wired to the chip.

Most of the Propeller Tool demo programs were written for the Demo board so here is the schematic for it.

Propeller C and BlockyProp use the Activity board which doesn't have video connections but has an ADC and an XBee socket.

Thanks for all the help. As soon as I receive the board i'll let you all know.
I'm used to the BoeBot stuff, but have been wondering about the Propeller
chip. I'll get back to all of you when ready with the board.

Oh all this stuff about StampWorks is about programming??
Here I was looking for software... is there a Stampworks for
the Propeller?

you are lucky that you got a PPDB, Parallax does not build them anymore and those things are awesome. Mine is my most used development board.

Like @Genetix, mentioned nothing is wired to any fixed location so you can use all pins like you want and just connect those things you need.
But you have a nice big breadboard and lots of things to play with.

Thanks Mike! I was an engineering tech before I retired. I had a crazy thought. From what I can see, it looks like the propeller processor is in a socket? I was wondering if there was a way via a plugin interconnect piggyback board to have a basic stamp processor use the same board? It would be interesting to use it for basic stamp or propeller since these boards are so rare now. Plus the biggest reason I like these board is it gives you a lot of breadboard space to build circuits. Then again the easier option is go the Arduino piggyback route and be able to plugin what ever option circuitry you need. But Arduino does not have a propeller like processor! Hey Parallax, build piggyback option boards for your propeller robots, now that could be a whole new market for Parallax!

The BASIC Stamp series microcontrollers use a 6-12v power supply and a 5v supply to regulate the I/O logic, which operates on a 5v logic level. As opposed to the Propeller, which uses 3.3v for everything, many of the electronics on the board may be tailored for the 3.3v logic. As you said, It would be interesting to see, and I would be quite impressed to see it!

Ah but how about making an adapter that could make the pins go to their respective pins to match. Would be interesting to see if it was possible...

Also I was playing around with the Propscope and saw the plugins option... anybody know what that is about?
