    I'm not familiar with the USPS however, does anyone know if this mean that the parcel is being held up somewhere?

  • hopefully this shipment will go better than the last one. The last one got routed to the wrong truck and ended up in Chicago where a postal alert was generated telling them it was miss routed.

    After it was found a couple of days later it was routed back to me.

  • just received mine, what a beautiful board. @W9GFO's enclosure also arrived, I am just back from the post office and feel like a kid at Christmas.

    USPS came through a day early!

    Must resist urge to dive right in!

    Planning a slow and methodical startup and testing so as to keep the smoke on the inside.

    Thanks to Chip and the Parallax team and all the others that have brought us to this point!

    Merry Chipmas!

    We are going to have a bunch of add-on boards arriving right after Christmas which we will build soon. This will give everyone VGA, HDMI, USB, audio, Goertzel, lights, buttons, etc.

    'Twas the night before Chipmas, when all through the house
    Not a computer was stirring, not even the mouse;
    The place by the front door was empty & bare,
    In hopes that a UPS deliverer soon would be there;
    The geeks were nestled all snug in their beds;
    While visions of demo video in their heads;
    And David in his T-shirt, and Chip in his cap,
    Had just settled their brains for a quickie catnap...

    May your wait be brief and you playtime be long...

    “Happy Chipmas to all, and to all a good night!”

    It's Alive!

    I'm running Win 10 on a Dell Desktop
    Installed FTDI VCM Driver: https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM21228_Setup.zip
    Installed Putty: https://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/w64/putty-64bit-0.70-installer.msi
    Rebooted

    Connected P2 Eval board as follows:

    P2 USB connected to a 5V 2200ma supply from a Raspberry Pi
    PC USB connected to the above mentioned desktop

    Checked Device Manager and saw new COM Port on COM3

    Opened Putty serial session on COM3, 115200 Speed.

    Played around a bit making LEDs blink using TAQOZ.

    https://forums.parallax.com/discussion/167868/taqoz-tachyon-forth-for-the-p2-boot-rom

    Current public documentation link.

    P2 Eval has LEDs on IO56-IO63 (Keep in mind IO62 and 63 are used for PC Serial Comms).

    C.W.

  • I tried getting signs of life out of my P2-ES but I'm guessing I need to give it an actual power supply. It looks like it's trying to boot as the boot pins all activate but I can't seem to get anything out of the terminal. I tried :

    "> Prop_Chk_0_0_0_0"+cr

    I think that's right? I might try with my desktop later. Not sure if I have a "usb brick" I really trust enough, might have to come up with something else tonight.

    The board is very nice, as always great job Parallax Team

    Did you send underscores, or white spaces ?

    Just checked the mail box. Empty. :(
    USPS says delivery on Dec 24. That's their story and they are sticking to it.
    It will still be Chipmas if they comply.

    OT: Walking back the 300 feet from the mailbox, the full moon is beautiful tonight, (the cold moon).

    I tried underscores first but I tried whitespace and neither one worked. I'm sure it's something stupid..

    *edit
    Once I gave it some power it worked. I feel dumb now :neutral:

    Try "greater than, space, escape" and TAQOZ should greet you. ( $3E, $20, $1B )
    To make any led blink such as P0 type "0 BLINK"
  • I am running around and checking boxes, NO micro USB cable anywhere, why not the same as used for the PropPlug, could have fit.

    Damn.

    Yes! That got it, I've committed to learning fourth *or at least TaqOZ* so let the adventure begin!

    That's the good thing about standards... there are so many to choose from. Plus, while everyone transitions from an old to a new standard, Murphy ensures you never have the right one.
    Now micro-usb is the charger default, but I see USB-C vendors trying to pitch that as the 'next standard' ... sigh..

    Are you saying it doesn't work with just the power from the USB connection? It requires a separate power supply?

  • So, um, how do we configure the board to come up in TACOQ?
    Also (and I hate to have to ask this) what about a terminal emulator for Win7?
  • The next boot ROM will pack a lot more TAQOZ into it and hopefully we can have it boot directly into TAQOZ if no other boot method is found rather than simply putting the chip to sleep to save batteries as was the case with P1. However TAQOZ could still indeed have sleep timeout on it if Chip still requires this feature. If boot sequencing falls through to TAQOZ then it can have its own higher level boot methods in regards to Flash and FAT32 SD etc.

    TeraTerm is a fully supported full-featured and Open Source terminal emulator for Windows.

    "> x"+cr
    where x = Ctl-D for the Monitor/Debugger
    x = Escape for TAQOZ

    Use PST (Parallax Serial Terminal) or TeraTerm etc as your serial terminal.

    Here are some TAQOZ commands to get started (some commands are case sensitive)...
    terminate each command below with <cr> which means carriage-return/enter
    I cannot be sure each of these work as Peter sent us a programmed flash chip with TAQOZ extras, but give them a go and report back.
    lsio                            list i/o pins
    ctl-W                           print taqoz words
    56 pin 10 hz                    flash pin 56
    56 blink                        flash pin 56 1s
    0 $100 DUMP
    0 $100 DUMPW
    0 $100 DUMPA
    0 $100 DUMPAW
    0 $100 DUMPL
    0 QD                            quick dump
    0 SF QD serial flash info
    .SF                             serial flash info
    SFSID .L                        serial number
    SFJID .L                        jedec number
    0 pin 115200 txd                \ sends $55 serial to pin 0
    $55 WYPIN                       /

    I just tested it with my desktop and had no issues. It could be the usb cord I was using too. I have some low quality cables I should just throw away already.
