that [] stuff just looks like some web-formatting scramble.

Where did you paste that from exactly ?

[noparse] is a BBcode that the forum used to support. It's used to prevent the enclosed text from invoking other BBcodes. In your example, with [noparse] enabled, the text would read:

dira[navIn] := 0 ' Make pin an input

I've requested several times that [noparse] be reenabled, but it's apparently not a priority with Parallax's web folks.
