Powering a QS

Hello!
Can I connect the power leads from my breadboard, to the matching ones on a QS device? This is in relation to the discussion going on inside the Microcontroller group regarding the idea of having a Stamp2 generate a clock for a processor.

I believe I can do that..... But I am asking here for confirmation. The supply is running at 5 volts.

You can connect the 5V from the Breadboard to Vin on the QS. Safest is to use a diode, (Cathode at Vin, Anode at Breadboard 5V) so there is no problem if you also power the QS from the USB plug at the same time.

Make the cable so it can't be plugged in backwards?
And Ariba's suggestion of a protective diode makes good sense.
