Although fabric pattern cutting has been automated for years, anything else dealing with cloth (e.g. sewing, ironing, etc.) is a nearly insurmountable challenge for automation. The actual ironing is the easy part. Positioning and moving the cloth is another matter altogether.
So sewing sweatshops are still a thing and probably will be for some time to come.
