Activity Bot with Camera

I am interested in putting a small camera on the Activity Bot and have it record video to an SD card.

Anyone have ideas on how to do this using the Simple IDE?

If that is not possible I was thinking about combining the Activity Bot with a Raspberrypie which does have a nice camera and programming library available.

Any thoughts regarding this would be great!

  • You may take a look at Jillian Ogle from LetsRobot.tv to see how she's achieving what you describe using a RasPi with web-based control.

  • There are tons of dash-cams out for use in cars/trucks, usually quite small to fit behind the rear view mirror.

Most run off 12V and save to a sd-card, some even video and sound.

No need for programming, just mount them and go.

    Easy!

  • Were you looking to do real-time image processing, such as OpenCV, or just need the video recorded?

A "keychain camera" would be great for just recording video. They're very small and light, easy to mount and accept external power. Check YouTube reviews for image quality.

Def the best simple suggestion to simply play back video after a "mission". There are numerous mini add-on drone cameras which stream live video to a smartphone or a PC, which let you record on the phone/PC. There's also at least one which does both, records HD video to an SD card plus it streams video to your phone. Maybe xanadu can recall which one that is.

I had an article in SERVO last year, you can view most of it even without a subscription before the cookies pile up and they ask you to subscribe. IMO best viewed in incognito mode to avoid those cookies altogether.
