No basic stamp found

in BASIC Stamp
When I plug my boe-bot into my computer and try to run the program on to it I get the message No basic stamp found. I've tried everything, what do I do?

    Almost all the time this is either a power problem or a serial communications problem. Typically the batteries are weak and the Stamp has to be running for the PC to recognize it. This is usually the case if your PC has been able to find the Stamp before and nothing there has changed. Try fresh batteries. If the PC to Stamp connection is new, you may be missing a proper driver for the serial connection or USB-serial adapter.
