    Incredible.

Why have they been sitting on that for so long? Or was it such a slow download?

Good question. Either slow download or slow computer animation. The landing was in early 2005, a full year before the multicore Propeller was introduced. Thus, NASA was forced to use a then-state of the art BS2 for all the data acquisition and high resolution graphics processing. At 3000 instructions per second, running 24 hours a day, that 2-minute video at 20 FPS would take exactly 12 years to process. So yes, the video is brand new for 2017.

I have seen the landing part before. But not put together with the rest as this.
  • Simply beautiful touchdown. This is what it's all about, visual feedback from another world. Cassini's mission is about over, and there is a planned crash landing on Saturn. I hope there is something to see in the dense clouds.

Juno is sending steady information back, Jupiter, now there is an interesting planet. Last I read they don't really know if it has a solid surface. How would you like to live there, your daily weather report would include what color the sky will be in your area today.

No, it's due to the fact, that this information just leaked now. It should have been WithHold.

As I said three posts above, I have seen that landing before. Nothing withheld. They simply compiled a very nice video with everything put together, w/annotations.
