When I was doing a lot of magazine writing I'd go every year, but I seldom had people to meet, so it was mostly cruising the aisles, and then contacting who had the interesting stuff later. These days with YouTube, blogs, social media, etc., it's pretty easy to see it all virtually. I think the last show I attended was in the late 80s.
I'm pretty sure the Sensors Expo I was lucky enough to attend in San Jose this summer was much more interesting. So many cool gadgets and actual engineers to talk to on the stands.

Weekend, weekday, noon, midnight, it's all the same in Sin City. Sometimes there's an adult "entertainment" convention going on concurrently in one of the many CES venues and you see some interesting folks wandering about.
