Halloween Resistor Sorting Party at Erco's House!

Who's coming over to sort through a giant box of random resistors to sort by value, wattage, and precision? We can do each other's hair and tell ghost stories! I know localroger is in! http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/prodinfo.asp?number=G21712

NOT! Think I'm done with these mystery boxes of electronic parts. When you can get a zillion resistors from China in the exact size and value of your choosing for a buck, it kinda sorta takes the fun out of hunting through these "treasure boxes" of 100% prime junk.

Giant 7" X 5" X 5" box of resistors is an incredible value. You get over 1,000 expensive prime color coded resistors! Wattages from 1/4 Watt to 5 Watts and almost all are carbon composition, which are becoming rare (you might find a few carbon film types). Almost all are full length leads. This is a great way to ensure that you have a quality resistor on hand for your next project. Easily worth over a $100. Each are brand new, 100% prime.

  • Plus, how many of them have drifted? In my junk box I have finally stopped looking through my carbon comp. resistors for doing repairs/restorations on older gear. Too many of them are at or really close to tolerance. No sense in restoring stuff with them any more.
  • Who wouldn't want to attend a resistor sorting party at erco's on the day before Halloween?? I'd bring the kava kava.

Not gonna dis carbon comp resistors. Any resistor that can get hot is a good resistor, as far as I'm concerned!

JK. In reality, the only thing I miss about carbon composition resistors is the ability to adjust them with a circular file. :)

They probably won't have drifted much yet. NOS, not used, and there are 5% parts there, which is pretty good to start with. In any case, that squarish shape will look good for repairing old radios etc. There are some carbon film resistors mixed in there, it would be better if there weren't. I'm set up for life with those already.. But Goldmine doesn't ship internationally, and shipping from the US of a box that shape would be expensive anyway.

I was deathly afraid you'd bring that. I can't sleep, I'm up all night worrying about it.

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN to all!

  • When I saw that offering from EG I thought of you, Erco. This time it's your turn to post pics!
