Error: No propeller chip found on COM3

A bunch of students in a class of mine, using the activity bot and the SimpleIDE program to attempt projects have run into an error. While testing out the example codes they provide, like the "hello World" and "Math" programs, the error message continues to pop up "no propeller chip found on COM3". We have tried resetting the robot, downloading an older version, downloading SimpleIDE again, changing computers, and a lot of troubleshooting, does anyone have a solution?

In the upper right hand corner of SimpleIDE, there is a drop down box for COM ports.
If you plug the board in first, and the bring up SimpleIDE, you should be able to choose the new port through the drop down box.
Let us know how it went.
The computers we have use COM3 as some internal part of the computer. Each time students plug/unplug the robot they have to reselect whatever COM port is available which is NOT COM 3.
So in the top right of the screen, when the robot is plugged in via USB and has the power set to 1, click that down arrow that is by COM 3 and hopefully you'll see another COM port. Select that one and see if it works.
