Neat, Digikey still shows that price and at that same price less 5 cents I can buy an 216MHz ARM M7 with 512kB RAM, 1MB Flash, and all the Ethernet/USBOTG etc goodies that comes bundled with it.
It's been that price on Digikey for a few weeks at least; I was in the same boat and also placed my order with Mouser. Even Jameco is charging $13 for the dip version.
A little investigation by our Sales/Customer Service Dept. has found that Digikey and Jameco made a mistake on their pricing and are in the process of fixing it.
Noticed this when placing an order the other day and decided to not order props from them. Looks like it isn't fixed yet, but glad to hear it was indeed an error.
I don't order LEDS from digikey, they outprice the little guys who can't afford bulk, other parts are sometimes good prices, but rarely high output leds.

Sounds like a conscious 'go away' price decision to me....
Still, Mouser have plenty, for $7.99 1+ and $5.38/100
I bought 100 Friday evening and arrived Monday morning (Tuggerah - 100km north of Sydney, Australia) !
Order fom Parallax at $7.99.
Not corrected on the Digikey I can see ?

Ridiculously cheap, anyway, IMO.
Coincidentally, at the same time raised the price of the LCD from 29 to 40.
I bet ya those who ordered at the high price, have paid, and were charged, with no correction.
The new profit model, "oops my bad".
Where are those high output leds normally $1.44 each, priced at $0.144 each? If they made that kinda error, you'd find me ordering a reel.

Normally I just order the parts and never look at the price. I am glad I actually looked at it last week. They still have not changed the price.
