I really like the new Propeller IDE With PropBasic. I didn't think this would ever happen ....Many thanks to the staff at Parallax for this....I'm BACK!!!!!

  • Totally agree.

And big thanks also to Brett Weir for taking up the challenge and getting PropBasic integrated into PropellerIDE.

(Of course, not forgetting the selfless and enduring contribution from Bean for creating PropBasic in the first place!)

    Magic !

  • Hear hear to both of the above posts.

I'm sure that more people would be here in the first place if this compiler was better supported. I guess that this is the downside to having "BASIC" in the name.

I have been using ViewPort for my IDE up until now and found the built-in scope to be very useful but this is great news from Brett!

Many, many thanks to both Brett and Bean!!!

I might be a lowly BASIC programmer but nonetheless, I have always been obsessed with achieving the highest possible efficiency and no other high level programming language, for the Prop, can come close to PropBASIC.

The ability to make rapid "what-if" changes to my PropBASIC code and have it instantly translated to pure PASM without having to be fluent in PASM, brings a huge smile to my face every time.

Not to mention the fact that PropBASIC code is more readable than ANY of the new, fashionable, SLOW languages that seem to pop up every five minutes.

I'm in outage till Fall, So I 'm really limited on time. But I have written some simple code and it works great in PropBasic.

PASM is PASM, No matter what higher level lingo derived to it! It can still be shared between all lingo users.

Yes, I envy those who actually get to spend time with the Prop. I keep thinking about adapting some of the OBEX PASM code to PropBASIC but there is nothing there that I actually need.
  • Wow ... I feel like Rumplestiltskin. I have been gone for just over 6 months and everything from the future has finally come true.

Now I am off to the P2 sub-forum to make sure that it has been released. Wish me luck.
