Propeller Activity Board : Fried USB interface

I have a Propeller Activity Board which I purchased earlier this year and when I plugged in a USB cable to the board to connect it to my computer, a component on the board smoked and now I can not connect to the board to program it. I believe it the Transistor or Volt regulator just above the USB/Serial chip. Is this repairable and if so would it be worth doing so?

Contact parallax support. They will probably offer to repair it.
