Instructions and code examples for older Scott Edwards LCD BPI-216N/L

I have an older LCD 2-line X16 character Scott Edwards LCD BPI-216N/L, bought in 2004. It codes different than the newer Parallax LCDs. I have forgot a lot about coding the LCD, since I was in school back in 2004. The basic stuff on Scott Edwards web site does not give me much instruction. These were popular around 2004 and I figure someone might have some coding examples, or other teaching material on these units. Thanks!

Here is a link to the Scott Edwards "manual" for the BPI-216https://seetron.com/bpi216. Table 1 on page 4 tells you every thing you need to know. It also has BS-2 coding examples.

Do you by chance know what the Parallax part number for that LCD is?

I have a link to an archive of the older Parallax websites where some of that information is still available but I need to find it.

From the 1999 catalog... Parallax sold 3 different 2 line by 16 char LCDs from Scott Edwards. There were two with the serial backpack, one plain (#27910) and one with backlight (#27923). I suspect the /L refers to the latter. There was also the ILM-216 (#27937) which was more integrated and included provision for 4 pushbuttons. There was also Scott's book with material on the LCD, "Programming and Customizing the BASIC Stamp" (#27951)

I have the book "Programming and Customizing the Basic Stamp". Been going through old material. Did not realize I had the book. The LCD I have is a BPI-216N/L

That's right, but I have recovered at least 50% of what I was looking for off of dead sites.

A great tool, and don't forget to donate to the site. I do any time I get a great hit.

In this case, the Wayback Machine gets you the same "manual" that's on the seetron site. But that's Okay, because table 1 is adequate.

I knew they were Seetron parts but I wanted to link them back to the Parallax parts.
I saw in the forum there a reference to BPI-216 and one of my former supervisors had the 4x20 version.

Am I mistaken or is there code on the Parallax CD because I don't see it but then again I thought I didn't need it so I didn't copy it onto my HD.
