PropellerIDE locks up. (solved, kind of)

I am finding that the "terminal" built into PropellerIDE is broken. When it's window opens it will no longer respond to mouse clicks, or text typed within it. In order to get it to respond I must click the control I want, or type the text I want and then drag the window by the title bar to get it to respond. This is very strange behavior. After opening the terminal the entire program then behaves this way. Even after the terminal is closed.

Windows 7 Pro
PropellerIDE v0.33.3

Any way to fix this?

  • Interesting. I just noticed this only happens when my Korad lab power supply is turned on and connected via USB. So it's an easy work around for me, disconnect the Korad, but still something that should be looked into.
  • More info on this. It appears to be an issue with the Korad USB drivers. I noticed that when it is attached (either to a hub or directly) the system slows down noticeably. It's just that PropellerIDE seems to be more sensitive for some reason and becomes usable. Anyway, the Korad uses a Nuvoton 32-bit USB-ready microcontroller with drivers from 2008. I couldn't find any newer drivers.

I'd not worry about PropellerIDE having a specific bug so much as it being resource heavy in certain borderline cases.
