I need to measure RPM (up to 60K). I am using a PX24 and want to keep it simple (IR sensors) with shaft painted white on half and black on half. Does anyone have some code I can repurpose? or something I can start with? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if this will help you out or not, but maybe it might give you a start.
I built a tach to measure RPM for one of my projects several years ago.
I did this on a Basic Stamp Homework board purchased from Radio Shack.
The tach worked good for me.
I'm sure it's very basic.
I have not looked at this code again after obtaining the data I needed at the time.
I'm pretty sure I had some help from the people in this forum when building this code.
..
I'll attempt to attach it.
I hope this helps you, in some manner.
There is an application that measures the RPM of a fan using an IR emitter/detector.
You can download a PDF of this book from the page I linked.
