Gorilla-Free Forum — Parallax Forums

Gorilla-Free Forum

This is the last place online where the gorilla and parenting hasn't been discussed to death. Let's keep it that way.

And while you're at it, do NOT think about pink elephants.

  • I have no issues, I strongly believe gorillas make fine parents!!

Unless it's a one-servo, circle-eight, six-legged DIY pink elephant that can be bought for less than $5 on a website that erco will eventually tell us about. Then think about it a lot!
  • I'd like to mentor a baby gorilla!!!
  • Gorilla tape it great stuff. A very useful robot building supply.
  • I like gorilla glue too...but the one you wet when you try to stick them together gets really, really mad.

You have to admire reverse-psychology. :nerd: I read erco's post as..."This is the only forum no discussing the gorilla/zoo debacle. Discuss?"
  • When I read the title, I thought he was referring to certain forumistas as gorillas, and a desire to keep them away. :)

Wow! Only now do I realize erco was referring to the gorilla shot to death at the Cincinnati Zoo. Perhaps I spend too much time reading and thinking about what's happening above the Earth, and ignore what's happening on the Earth.

I guess I knew because my Facebook feed is saturated with all kind of meme photos about it. You'd think people had better things to do, but...

Maybe that weirdo erco meant THIS, which is far more interesting.

In a related story, the wife & kids are away visiting family in Ohio. They went to the Cincy zoo where all this started.

Leaving erco home alone to click & order way too many robots.
  • All I can say is that I was very pleased to realize I had no clue what Erco was talking about. I avoid all forms of social media except a few purpose-specific forums (such as this one)
  • Remember how the gorillas were treated in the planet of the apes movies? The chimps were the smart apes, the orangutans were the leadership apes, and the gorillas were the working class apes. That was their lot for all of the original films, and the reboots.

Meanwhile, Doctor Zaius was constantly talking about how just and equitable their society was compared to the corrupt humans that preceded them. I always hoped one of the gorillas would team up with Taylor and put a muzzle on Zaius.

Many years ago a young boy fell off the fence into a gorilla enclosure. Could have been London Zoo. I forget. Lying their unconscious everyone was really worried when the gorilla when up to the child. In the news footage it seemed the gorilla was carefully checking if the boy was still alive and then looking around as if waiting for someone to come and help. Both survived.

In my childhood Guy the Gorilla at London Zoo was kind of famous. I was a bit upset last year to find that in the Natural History Museum in London they have Guy, stuffed and in a glass display case. He had died of heart failure during some surgery many years ago.
  • My wife was having work-related stress issues a while back and they put her on Prozac.

One day, she was driving to work in a '72 Firebird and saw a pink and blue cat sitting on the hood / bonnet.

Things didn't end well for the cat but at least my wife and car weren't hurt.

    Oh... what about gorillas?

Poor kitty. Things went much better for this unflappable fellow whose wheelchair was inadvertently pushed down the road. By a truck. At 50 MPH. Unbelievable!
