A U.S. Navy Blue Angels jet and an Air Force Thunderbirds F-16 crashed Thursday in separate incidents in Tennessee and Colorado, officials said.

Not a headline you expect to see......

    I hope we don't see a headline later that says Blue Angles/Thunderbirds crash attributed to pilot error!

    Tragic.

    Those guys are some of the best.

    I used to watch the Thunderbirds practice before the big airshow at Edwards AF base where I worked. It was quite a treat to watch them. Everyone used to turn to watch them.

    But they practiced at the razor's edge. Very fast and very low = no margin for error. Sometimes it looked like they were 50' off the ground and going like demons. Spectacular but deadly.

    Even for those elite pilots they sometimes make mistakes or the odds simply catch up with them.
