I'll send it to you, free in the U.S. to keep, if you're interested.

(It would be nice if you were able to test it with various OS's and software and such.) >.>

  • What is the advantage of the CH340T over an FTDI chip?
  • Wait, there is no Propeller on this board that I can see. Is this a replacement for the PropPlug?
  • I can test on Fedora Linux on PC, Raspbian, Win 7, Win 10, Mac OS X using Proptool, PropellerIDE, Simple IDE, BST, where appropriate..

What all do you want tested: programming, terminal support, various speeds, ??

Prop Plug, not Stick. My bad, Corrected.

No problem. I'd be happy to test your module with a new loader I'm working on as well as with propeller-load and p1load if it would help.

    David Betz,

You don't have to install any malware from FTDI and risk having your system hosed.
  • I'd be delighted to put your new Prop Plug to work. Unfortunately it would only see use with Win7 and PropTool as that is the only combination currently used for Propeller development here.

Isn't the CH340T much cheaper than a (real) FTDI chip? At least USB-serial cables seem to be cheaper for the ch3xx variants.

  • The CH340 is a USB to serial UART adapter like the FT232

    Pros.
It's $0.50 or less direct from China.
It's less stressful to the tinfoil hat types. ;)

    Cons.
It requires external crystal and ballast caps
It requires external vreg for 3.3v
    It requires external static clamping
    It requires external LED logic
Not fully compatible with Propeller Tool (PT bug never fixed)
Not available from reputable source like Digikey or Mouser

Anyway, that's three spoken for, which is all I have. I will be pm'ing for addresses soon. Thanks!

    That's quite a few cons..

Why not use a CP210x, or CP2110, or mini module ?

  • Here are the Diptrace files. I'm going to relegate this design to "proof of concept". No plans to sell them.
