BS2 HW Board Current Limiting

I'm designing a rechargeable power supply for the serial version of the BS2 HW Board. It will use 500mah 2S LiPo packs (8.4 volts max). I would like to include a current limiting component, but I'm not sure what to allow for max current. The datasheet says up to 500ma for the 5v side of the HW board, and I'm adding in another 500ma for stuff connected to Vin.
If someone were to connect Vin directly to Vss the trace on the PCB looks pretty beefy. Do you think that could handle up to 2 amps for 200ms?
Thanks.

I found these - http://www.newark.com/littelfuse/0287001-pxcn/automative-blade-fuse-1a-32v/dp/91T2530. I'll probably go that route for the LiPo powered stuff. I have 10x 2S 500mah packs from a small flying wing, much cheaper than buying 9v batteries.
