Quartus Prime 16.0 has been released. I've upgraded my laptop and desktop PC (both Win7 x64) and it seems OK.

It now works with Win10.

I'm in the process of trying it with the P1 emulation.

The BeMicroCV code built OK. It's probably an old version - 2014-08-11.

Leon, do you notice any improvements in Quartus? I didn't know they started calling it 'Prime'. I thought they'd wait until 17.0.

It seems to be faster. It gave 90% logic utilisation with the BeMicro emulation, I don't know how that compares. I've still got version 15.1.2 so I'll try building it with that.

They started calling it Prime with the previous version 15. I'm using the free Lite versions of course.
  • Thanks for the heads up Leon.
I've been running Quartus Prime 15.1 on Win10 for months now, no issues here. :)

I thought that Quartus Prime 15.1 under Win10 had issues with the Byte Blaster. Altera didn't include it in their list of OSs.

Logic utilisation with 15.1 is the same - 90%.

The 2014-08-11 version I used is the current version.
  • I tried to install 15.1 under Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and managed to get most of it working, but ran into problems when generating PLLs. So I gave up and installed CentOS 6.7 as it's basically equivalent to an officially supported OS. Everything seems to work including the ARM tools and byte blaster.

Based on that bad experience I would be interested to know if Windows 10 is working for people.
  • A couple posts up, Win10 and Quartus appear to be working in Australia and least! :)
  • I thought that I had Quartus working under Ubuntu until I tried one particular tool to generate a PLL, so I figured feedback from more people is good to get before trying an unsupported OS. Maybe obscure library problems are less likely under Windows than Linux. (e.g. libcurl if I remember correctly)

QUartus Prime 15.1 is working for me in win10. COmpiling seems as slow as before....
