Mounting A Gimbal/Camera On Elev-8

Parallax offers a means for attaching a gimbal/camera on their new Elev-8 copter. While this looks like a good way to mount a camera, I prefer the method offered by Kyle Montgomery for the V2 Elev-8:

I fabricated a boom out of aluminum stock like he did, but found that the props were still in my camera's FOV, so I made another longer boom in order to position the gimbal/camera further forward. But I didn't like the way Kyle positioned the battery to counterbalance the gimbal, as I found the CG was still forward of center. So I purchased a couple of Tarot Gimbal hooks, a couple 10 mm carbon fiber rods, and a Tarot battery plate so I can better position the battery. Here's what the gimbal hook looks like:

Also, I wanted more clearance for the gimbal/camera, so I added standoffs to the landing skid mount points:
I'm really happy with this setup. My Elev-8 flies well with the gimbal and I can shoot great stabilized videos.
