Popular tags are useless - can we have trending tags?

Looking at the misnomer "popular tags" section again I am wondering since we seem to be stuck with it cluttering the screen then can we make it more useful? I'm sure the javelin and spinneret are not popular, and the basic stamp may have a history but it is more part of history than the present.

I propose if possible that these tags turn into something useful in that we have trending tags and so if P2 is trending more than the others then it would be at the top. Of course almost immediately the javelin tag would fall off the list but then we will start to see where the activity is on the forum. Is this possible?

  • As much as I agree with your proposal, I think we'd be tilting a windmills to pursue it. The forum dev team is too busy with other stuff even to consider more pressing forum issues.

What? You want to turn this into some "social media" site?

    :)

Frankly, I think removing the tags feature altogether is a good idea.

I'm certainly not here for a popularity contest.
  • I think it's all clutter but if we are stuck with it then make it useful otherwise I would be mislead and think that the javelin was "popular" and we know that Parallax want this to be a kiddie safe forum and all that ;)

I agree, Peter. Better to remove it altogether.

I seem to recall this was discussed for a long while after the forum "upgrade".

By the way, why is it that after all this time there is no Parallax logo for the favicon? It still looks suspiciously like a Facebook "F".

The "F" is for "forum," as distinguished from the "P" for the Parallax Store. It's actually helpful when you have both open in separate tabs.
