Using the CODE tag in the OBEX textual description and comments???

I have tried all sorts of methods of inserting the <code> tag in the OBEX descriptive and commentary text boxes, to no avail.

It does work fine here in the forums but I cant get it to do anything in the OBEX.

I have tried Text Format "Filtered HTML".
I have tried inserting it into the "Plain Text".
I've tried it with and without a closing tag (eg: <code> </code>).

What am I missing??? Or does it just not work?

It certainly would be nice to be able to use it when explaining sections of source code.

I am certain its probably quite simple... just something I don't know how to do.

Thanks in advance for any help with it here.

  • Hmmm... apparently...
    (select one of the following:)
    nobody knows?
    nobody cares?
nobody else has had this problem?
    (grin)

I see by indenting the above that [...] [/...]are used here instead of <...> </...> ... just tried

and that didn't work either... arg.
  • As can be seen from the previous post... the [...] [/...] method does in fact work here [chortle] [/chortle]
  • I can't help you with the obex, but it looks like you're having trouble posting code here too?

    Here's some code
    some
    code
      for
        you

    And a screenshot...
  • Thanks for the reply. Yes the tag does work here. I don't have anything at present to say here which needs it however. 'Tis in the OBEX, where I have a number of published items, some of which have code snippets and or examples in the descriptions, that I would like it to work. There must be one of the Parallax Guru's out there somewhere who may be able to explain it to me if only I can get their attention. Although I will admit it is not terribly important.

You were missing the choice that applies to me, and that would be "Not really sure what is being asked for."

The OBEX and this forum are separate and different software packages. The forum software includes methods that format text between the [ code ] [ /code ] tags in specific ways. The OBEX does not, it is a repository for code.

Browsers and text editors have different tags and formats.
  • Ah yes, however the OBEX editor has a tag-line that says:
    Allowed HTML tags: <a> <cite> <blockquote> <code> <ul> <ol> <li> <dl> <dt> <dd> <table> <tbody> <tr> <td> <span> <div> <p> <h2> <hr /> <pre> <strong> <em> <u>

which is where my confusion comes from...
  • If the <code> tag does not work, use the <pre> tag instead. If that doesn't work, the editor must be lying to you.

  • Thanks Phil.. will give that a try.
