Will my Parallax Basic Stamp Discovery Kit USB Version #27807 work with my new ASUS PC? The PC has an intel CORE i7 and operates on windows 10. The kit box specifies windows 7. I purchased the kit a few years ago and never used it. Ken

Should work, but you may have to download a new driver, see here:

Yup, new FTDI drivers will be required. Note that roscoe's link is for the Prop plug, but the OP is asking about a BASIC Stamp 2 board with the USB connector and onboard FTDI adapter.

Should work fine with your new Win 10 computer. The first time you plug it in, it will take a shot at installing drivers automatically. I'll give that a 75% chance of working. If it can't, visit http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm and find the uppermost Windows drivers for 32 bit and 64 bit. I'm 99% sure your ASUS PC is 64 bit.

Please let us know if Win10 installed the drivers automatically. I may have to try it myself if you don't reply soon!

Easier said than done! Win10 did not recognize either my USB BoE or my FTDI adapter. I got the dreaded "USB device not recognized" error. That FTDI site I linked to had an overly complicated procedure so I ultimately went to the source and downloaded the driver from https://www.parallax.com/downloads/parallax-usb-driver-installer. I still had problems until I realized my USB cable was faulty, I had to jiggle it to get a good connection. But a new cable solved everything. So I still can't conclusively say if Win10 would have installed the drivers automatically. Please let us know how you make out, Ken!
