Are these fellows the same style as the ones that are available at Parallax?

Hello!
A local store in Manhattan sells these fellows:
tinkersphere.com/batteries-holders/1264-3-7v-lipo-battery-4500mah-18650.html
From the photo it seems as if they are part of the same, ah, line, as the batch currently available inside the Parallax site.

Strange. No robot.

I noticed that Parallax has photos of their #28987 cells in two places and it's a different brand in each photo.
The change may have been made due to quality issues with the old stock. Some cells did not actually provide the power as stated by the mAh label. The Tenergy brand cells definitely "do what they say" ! (We found similar issue when working on the Badge batteries- 2000mAh cells were actually maximum 800mAh
(I don't speak for Parallax of course, this is all based on my experience. Needless to say, Parallax might change products/parts due to supply issues and in search of customer quality and efficiency improvements)
Interestingly enough VonSzarvas, I actually expected a (witty) remark from Publison, but I'll take yours as good enough.
Rick,
That's the interesting part.
And VonSzarvas
Well I'll wait a couple more days. But besides there's a pair with my name on it, standing next to six PAB bots.....

Hey Erco, your robot took a (very) early place in Time Square to watch the ball drop. He's standing next to a character.
Pretty much any of the *Fire 'branded' ones are as likely as not to be used cells with a new wrapper/sleeve.
If you want/need the actual mah's, stick with a name branded one. Tenergy has always seemed to deliver the best price/performance IME.

Very funny. And here I thought you'd get a kick out of the wandering robot story. Right now he's trying to not be stepped on by working dog.
Seriously folks, I'm simply wondering why the company chose that capacity battery. I do know why the family member was selected.
Ternergey has always seemed to be to the batteries to buy . Like the previous post, they deliver what they advertise.
I have been using their Li-Ion and Ni-MH for many years.
I also do not work for Parallax.
@erco I am pretty sure this is a typo. they meant to say "sheep life".
Enjoy a happy new year.
Mike
Hmmm.I thought it was "FVANOR, where men are men and sheef are nervous."

Edit: But their 9900 mAh cells cost half as much! http://www.ebay.com/itm/281875332475
Okay.

Strange now your robot has returned, Erco. With luggage bigger then he is.
I'm a Li-Ion ignoramus and my Google fu is failing me so:
What can I do with these? What does "protected" mean exactly? Could I just hook them up to a solar panel or such to charge them in place, or do I need a charger? Could I knock up a simple charger circuit? Rumor has it they should not be used in series?
As for charging, follow the guidelines from Sparkfun regarding charging and use a dedicated charger. Protected means that under the top cap is a special circuit that limits the output to a preset voltage before you'll need to charge them.

Strange that robot of yours erco, just left on a walking tour of Asia.
