Just yesterday happened to do a search for search for 'speaker' on the website, as I'm looking to make my own BT wireless speaker system with the Tripath TA2024 or a cheap $0.73 PAM8403.
Nothing.
I see RS was bought by a hedge fund, so they are simply going to continue on down the path of a 'convenience' store for phones, related stuff. Online seems about the only option left.
The interesting question is who exactly is Standard-General?
I suppose that this means that regardless of what Parallax does, it's brandname may alsol live on forever and ever.
Asian cultures, such as China and Japan originally had no concept of bankruptcy or corporations -- your family inhereited your business success or failure through your eldest son. Korean corporate culture is still family dynasties. So are many other Asian corporate cultures.
And I am not sure that Muslim culture has a western concept of bankruptcy. One can even use Brunei as an off-shore tax haven and shift over to a parallel universe of finance and ownership.
I suppose that one day again, Standard General hopes it will take Radio Shack public and cash in of its revival of the brand.
The ways of the business world are convoluted at best.
Every Parallax item that you buy at a Radio Shack store now was part of the bankruptcy and is being sold without ever having paid Parallax for it.
I applied for a part time sales position at the local R.S., I didn't get the job, the young guy that got the job didn't know much about electronics, it could have been his appearance that got him the position, his attire, his huge ear rings and hair slicked back with 90W into some futuristic style.
Advertised clearance items are the only reason I shop Radio Shack these days, with a Wal mart a few hndred yards away, I can't see cell phones being their niche.
