Saleae Logic Pro 16

Anybody here have any experience with it? I'm thinking about ordering one or something like it. If it works as advertised it might be a useful thing to debug with.

  • For people on a tight budget a low cost unit such as a ScanaQuad may do it although it only has 4 channels.

  • I'll toss in another upvote for the Saleae. I have the original Logic 8 and it's excellent. The software is fantastic and because you have your entire X GB of RAM, storage space is no problem. 4k samples on the HP? ha.. what a joke :P
But as mentioned elsewhere, the software triggering is kind of a joke - at the moment offering nothing more than single edge/level trigger. This hasn't been an issue for me though - I simply record for an extra second or 20 and then quickly zoom into wherever I need.

If you have specific questions I'd be happy to answer them. I've owned mine for about a year and a half now.
  • I have an old Logic 8 and it has been very handy. However, it's the only logic analyzer I've ever owned so I don't know how it compares with other offerings.
  • So I bought a Logic Pro 16 and it showed up yesterday.

Admittedly, it was expensive (like $650 total but I ordered some extra probes). I took a cue from their page and have begun building PC boards with headers to support it without messing with clips.

I've gotta say, if I had this 30 years ago I would probably have more hair, and less of it would be gray.

Yes- it seems to be nicely built and works pretty much as advertised.

In case anybody might be thinking about buying one.
  • I have an older Logic 8, and bought a newer one when they added analog. I haven't ever owned a stand-alone scope or analyzer, but this thing has saved me hair more than a few times. Very happy with it.
