Video Ignorance - how to hook up the 1-2-3?

In the 80's, the computers I used hooked up to chain printers, card readers and CGA/EGA/VGA monitors, so these RCA connectors on the 1-2-3 board have me stumped. If I want to play with VGA on the <insert name>, what gets hooked to what?

I seemed to have missed most of anything that plugged into a TV for gaming and such since I was out earning a living while you guys were enjoying your teenage years.

The TV I'll be using has component and composite inputs, like this:

For composite, my yellow gets plugged into ??

For component, which what gets plugged into the other what??

I'm not even sure if the code that is being written is composite or component video output (see, told you I was video challenged!).

Anybody have a quick primer for me?

Thanks!

  • Hi mindrobots, no worries :D

For Composite ( which is all we have working at the moment ) yellow ( video ) goes into the RCA closest to the Prop plug on DE2-115, DAC0, white and red is for left and right audio, unless you're driving them with another cog, you don't need to worry about them for now, they will be DAC1 and DAC2.

For Component, I'm not sure of the ordering, I think it'll be R = DAC0, G = DAC1, B = DAC2, but don't quote me on it, as it'd depend on the driver and we don't have one yet.

    Hope this helps.
  • Thanks Baggers!

All I need to do is unplug the kid's Wii!! :)

(There are still worries, but my video problem have disappeared!! :) )
  • No worries, and good luck with that one :P
