  • Welcome to the Parallax forums!

Could you give the full name or Parallax part number for the PE board you are having issues with?

And also your computer operating system.

That will help us to help you!
  • It is a 40 pin dip version#32305.
Computer oper. Sys. Is windows 8
  • When they communicate serially, that means the PropPlug is working. If the Propeller won't identify, that means something between the PropPlug and the Propeller chip isn't working or that the Propeller isn't getting any power. Carefully check the wiring for the regulator and all the connections between the regulator and the Propeller. Check the connections between the PropPlug and Propeller. The EEPROM and the crystal are not needed for the identify operation to work.
  • The prepeller is getting like 2.5v that's all it should need. I checked its supply. Everything is wired right.

The Propeller needs 3.3 volts on both it's VDD inputs, (not just one). Also VDD needs to go to ground on both pins on the Propeller.

If you are only getting 2.5 volts, there is something wrong with the 3.3 volt regulator circuit. I would dismantle the 5 and 3.3 volt regulator circuits, and then re assemble them paying close attention to the part numbers and values of components.

How are you powering the breadboard? 9volt battery or wall power supply?

  • It's a nine volt b. between ground and 3.3 it's getting like 2.6v.
I will disassemble the supply and reassemble it.

9 volt batteries are notorious for being the problem with these circuits. The cheap ones will not provide enough voltage to run the whole PE system for more than 1 hour.

Get one or two brand name batteries and try again.

  • There's 8.7 volts there Panasonic I'll try some different batteries first
