Forum Issue?

First page of General Discussion lists "Most Recent" posts.

This thread:

http://forums.parallax.com/discussion/162070/windows-10-for-parallax-legacy-windows-software-yes-or-no#latest

The "Most Recent" is said to be September 6, but looking inside the thread it was actually September 10. This is just an example, it is not the only time I've noticed this.

    Seems simple enough to explain....
Parallax appears to be sinking or stalling threads by having them ignore the date of the most recent date of entry.

As far as my most recent reply, it is all rather pedantic and trivial. So I do understand why it may have been selected.

I find the sinking or stalling to be a bit of an irritant. Many threads can be difficult enough to follow without disrupting the chronological order. Better to delete the offending post, and perhaps be slightly less sensitive in reacting to posts.
  • Well, at this point is seems to be one of the features that Parallax desired in the change over. But I do have a history of drifting away from websites that manage forum input in this way... communication seems managed and limited with a strong bias.

But maybe Parallax can pull it off without that happening.
  • Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought it was stated that only "forum issue" threads would be sunk, and there would be a post to that effect within the thread.

That thread and the other that I've noticed are not titled "forum issue" and there is no post in the thread saying was being sunk.

It just seems that a thread listing and the posts within disagreeing on when the latest post was made must be an error of some kind..
  • Let's not be getting into why a forum might prioritise certain topics!

I can recommended the bookmark feature though....

Click the star at the top of any thread, then you'll always find that in your personal "my bookmarks" link (top left).

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll ask IT to make sure there's no new error creeping in.

In the meantime, maybe the bookmark thing will work for you too, for keeping track of favourite topics.

    Cheers!

Well.. the boomark thing doesn't scale and soon becomes unmaintainable.
I'm still waiting for the 'view unread posts' function we had before (a standard forum feature if there ever was one). That would solve the problem of following threads for me. Particularly when reading the forum on and off.
