One minute I'm surfing the forum and suddenly I see I'm at http://forums.scribblerrobot.com/discussion/161926/28044-laser-range-finder . Is that a mirror site, and how did I get teleported?

Same server!
I can even sign in there.
Sounds like a security problem waiting to happen.

Thanks for the heads up erco. Something is not right here. I made a quick call to Parallax and it is being looked at.
What you are really seeing here is the result of a few DNS settings. A while back, we decided to continue the conversation on the Scribbler here in the main forums site. We updated our DNS to allow forums.scribblerrobot.com to resolve to the same IP Address as the main forum site. The web server at 67.104.29.60 will respond to either host name.
This does mean that there that there is really only one site. No one is actually logging into the old site because it does not exist. This also means that the site is not properly informing your browser to use 'forums.parallax.com' when you arrive here via the old ScribblerRobot.com address. That will be addressed today.
Thought it was suspect.

And when I tried to use WHOIS to locate ownership, I got a lot of nonsense. I also noticed in a Google search for "whois broken" that I got a lot of discussion that WHOIS is broken.
I never did find out who is www.broken.com.
And then I opened this morning Taipei Times and there was an article about how the USA is delaying turning the who internet name management over to international concerns for a year.
So WHOIS may be broken.
++++++++++=
And yes, it is beginning to worry my that I can find these 'Twilight Zone' coincidences on the internet so easily.
Here we go, name address, phone number email:
Of course if the website at www.broken.com was not broken there would be something wrong, right?
We will just have to wonder who Moniker Privacy Services might be. Visits to www.broken.com seem to return nothing a lowercase b, not even a 440 notice.
I need to get back into my FPGA projects and let the rest of Parallax Forums go.
On the other hand, there is an empty shell of some kind of website here: http://www.broken.com/albums/
