Forum issue: Sign In for attachments?

In a P2 discussion from earlier this evening, Chip attached a txt file that included the proposed op codes for the P2. On both occasions the txt file attachment would not open unless I was "Signed In". Is this another oversight, or do we have to pay to play from here on?
Surly the IT team has discussed the amount of time anticipated to resolve the documented forum issues - a weak, a month, 6 months, a year? Would you please share your best guess with us.

There are other forums that won't show pictures or attachments unless the user is logged in. That seems like a reasonable practice.
You should now be able to download without being signed in.
I cannot personally "best guess" a timeline for fixes. If the IT team shares an ETA with me that I am encouraged to make public, I will. Otherwise issues will be resolved in as timely manner as possible, with critical or important problems solved first.
Any specific questions should be directed to webmaster@parallax.com, though I cannot guarantee any additional information would be provided.
This forum issue is resolved; the thread will now be sunk.

I have also found this to be standard procedure in other forums, but given the workload of the forum administrators, and the huge amount of new signups in the que, I think Parallax made the right decision to open attachments to Guests.

No it is frikken well is not a reasonable practice. In fact if it were maintained here I would give up on the place in protest.
People post all kinds of code and other files they have created (and many they did not) in the expectation that they may be useful to somebody. And with the expectation that they are available to anyone who is interested with no strings attached.
All that contributed content builds the value of this forum. And is all good for the Parallax business. It's good for Parallax, it's good for us members of the forum, it's good for anyone passing by who may well be a Parallax customer or become one as a result of what they find.
This is not a private club, this is advertising for Parallax, and we are providing the content of that advertising.
It was a setting that may have gotten overlooked during the move. Bump took care of it.

I think Dave was just pointing out that it is practiced on a lot of forums. I too was upset when I ran into the same situation.
The good news is that Parallax has seen that practice is not correct, and have corrected it.
We are all happy now.
Yes, we are all happy (er) now

And I thought I was a crotchety old guy. Heater, take a chill pill and relax a little bit.

And I thought he had a reasonable response:
"Good show Courtney, and thanks Bump.

Sorry, you are right, I'm stressed. That was a bit harsh.
@Publison,
Thank you.
I'm very happy with this outcome. Way to go Courtney and Bump!
